There are lots of ways to enjoy Rosie & Raven! Since it’s a bit longer than most children’s books, you can split it into two reading sessions. We suggest saving the interactive portion for night two. Try completing the short exercises together before activating the illustrations. The animations are a fun reward for engaging with the prompts. You can also ask your child to guess what will happen next before revealing the animation—this sparks imagination and makes them feel like their “special powers” brought the story to life. Rosie & Raven is designed to inspire connection, curiosity, and creativity, so make it your own and have fun with it!

This was an intentional choice to put reading first. The author wanted to bridge the gap between the page and the screen by showing children that a secret, magical world truly exists, but they must use their own “superpowers” to access it.

That’s no problem! Rosie & Raven is meant to be enjoyed equally with and without a screen. While the animations  make the book truly special and unique, they are completely optional, as the book stands alone with rich illustrations and a heartfelt, cohesive story.

ABOUT ROSIE & RAVEN

Rosie & Raven is suitable for children ages 4–12, with the ideal reading comprehension range being 6–8 years old. Younger children are captivated by the vivid illustrations and animations, while older readers connect with the storyline and interactive features. Adults often pick up on the deeper themes, making Rosie & Raven a story that truly appeals to all ages.

It took Kayla two years to bring Rosie & Raven to life, combining traditional storytelling with AI-assisted image creation, Photoshop, collage, hand-animation, augmented reality, and original music. She wrote the story, art-directed and refined every image, animated the illustrations, and wrote and sang the songs—bringing together nearly every facet of her creative background into one immersive experience. When Kayla was four years old, her mother used to do visualization and manifestation exercises with her, and those early explorations into mindfulness deeply influenced her path as an artist.

Her distinctive style of augmented reality art creates a mesmerizing and magical experience for the viewer, and this innovative approach to storytelling allows her to deliver tools for spiritual growth in a fun, engaging and totally fresh way.

Rosie & Raven aims to recreate the beautiful and connected experience Kayla had with her mother when she was a child. Using new technology to encourage in-person connection, she is planting the seeds our tech-savvy kids need to grow into healthy, emotionally mature adults
